Consumer Advisory Council

Overview

The Consumer Advisory Council (CAC) is the advisory body for New York State’s consumer engagement and education initiatives relating to e-health. It is comprised of leading consumer and health advocacy organizations in New York, and is coordinated under the umbrella of the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC). Its aim is to educate and engage New Yorkers about the potential for e-health to improve access to care and health care quality in the state, while safeguarding individual privacy, and to help guide the state as it develops and implements e-health policy and infrastructure.

The CAC is working in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health and NYeC to develop and provide information and support to a broad statewide Consumer Advocacy Network for E-Health.

The consumer organizations participating in the Consumer Advisory Council include:

The Consumer Advisory Council is staffed by Katie O’Neill and Kayla McPherson of the Legal Action Center and Janlori Goldman of the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
