
The New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) is a national leader in supporting health IT [0] and has identified it as a key part of its health reform agenda. In March 2008 NYS DOH awarded $105 million in funding for 19 health IT projects [1], through the Health Care Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers (HEAL NY) Health IT Grant Program, Phase 5. This is on top of the $52.9 million in funding it awarded to 26 health IT projects as part of Phase 1 in 2006.
