SHIN-NY API and Innovation
Innovators looking to develop software products that meet healthcare providers needs across the state can make use of the SHIN-NY Application Programming interface (API). The API, which provides a gateway into the SHIN-NY, helps create an ecosystem of collaboration among patients, providers, public health officials, and innovators in response to shifting health technology needs.
An API sandbox environment is now available for companies to begin developing and testing their products using a breadth of clinical information.
The API’s initial capabilities are those related to querying patient record information. Future capabilities will include access to care plan summaries, and functionality related to secure alerts for physicians and patients. Data includes clinical and administrative information from HIEs (made up of hospitals, labs, long-term care providers, community health centers, and primary care physicians). The API will include the appropriate consents, privacy, and security policies to ensure data safety.
