New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg lauded the metropolis’ efforts to use EHR data and health IT to prevent heart disease, stroke, and improve diabetes and management for tens of thousands of residents. More than 3,200 NYC primary care providers have implemented EHRs, serving three million city residents. Bloomberg credited PCIP with helping 96,000 patients control their high blood pressure, 81,000 patients improve their diabetes management and 58,000 to quit smoking.
