DRAFT: Preetinder Bassi: NYeC to Meet You!

What is your job title and how long have you been working at NYeC?

Clinical Informatics Manager, working at NYeC for 8 months.

What is your favorite thing about working at NYeC?

How understanding and supportive everyone has been as my family and I worked on relocating to Albany. Through every step, NYeC was there to reassure us. We are finally beginning to feel settled.

Describe your job in three words.

Challenging, Educational, Meaningful.

Where’s your hometown?

Warren, NJ.

What are you reading right now?

The Lion King (with a 3 year old daughter, I stick to the Children’s section of the library).

What’s the last song you listened to?

“Love Someone” by Lukas Graham (my brother’s slow dance song for his wedding on Sat Aug 17).

What’s your favorite motto or personal philosophy?

Everything happens for a reason (sometimes we don’t have the foresight to know why).

You’re writing a book about yourself. What’s the title?

Excuse Me, Let’s Talk. For as long as I can remember, I have often been approached by random people who begin a full on conversation with me about random stuff (e.g. Telling me they’ve seen me before, asking for help, directions, what my background is, what my beliefs are) in different languages (e.g. a family asked me how to get to Times Square in Italian. Good thing I had Google Translate with me. I was able to answer them in Italian). The conversation typically starts with “Excuse Me” and it goes from there.

Describe your job:

Educational? Preetinder’s first conference on behalf of a company.

What’s one phrase that you overuse?

So, you know…

If you could master one skill, what would it be?

Learning as many languages as possible. Being able to communicate with someone in their own language breaks down so many barriers and brings a level of comfort and ease where he/she can relate to you easier.

If you could take credit for any one piece of art, song, film, or book, what would you take credit for?

“Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. When my daughter was born, I used to dance to this song with her in my arms as I put her to sleep.
