Most patients receive care from more than one doctor, practice, or hospital. Even with relatively simple healthcare needs, keeping track of and coordinating information among doctors can be a daunting task.
To help patients’ healthcare providers better coordinate their care, New York State created the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY) to connect healthcare professionals, and with patient consent, allow the electronic exchange of clinical information.
